Frasca Food and Wine

Boulder, US

A contender for the title of best ever restaurant in Colorado, Frasca has been winning plaudits since bringing fine Italian dining to Boulder in 2004. The restaurant's name is the first clue that food and wine are given equal billing by founders chef Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson and sommelier Bobby Stuckey; that, and the backlit wine wall taking up one side of the elegantly minimalist dining room. The cooking of Friuli-Venezia Giulia is the touchstone for a four-course prix-fixe menu majoring in interesting antipasti, sublime handmade pastas and exceptional roasted meats. For the Friulano Menu, Giulia takes diners on a nine-course journey to the mountains of northeastern Italy, with wines offering a similar deep-dive into the region as well as venturing further afield. The whole experience is supported by genuinely warm service from staff happy to work here.
