Opened by Top Chef season 13 winner Jeremy Ford back in 2017, Stubborn Seed’s name pays homage to the persistence required to open a restaurant. The intimate space marries concrete with warm wooden notes, tables are matt black and burlap napkins are tied with herb sprigs. Artful precision and delicate composition elevate the ordinary and the delectable with deft imagination to make it eminently memorable. Fusing Asian and Latin influences, the eight-course tasting menu (there’s an extended 11-course one available, too), offers intricate plates such as wagyu beef tartare paired with milk bread, kumquat gel, kimchi and crispy leek, while ricotta gnudi arrives with buttery greens, hazelnut 'everything' crumble, Aleppo confit squash, caramelised onions and manchego umami foam. Edible flowers are liberally used to embellish Ford’s dishes and a stellar line-up of crafted cocktails.
