Opened in 2017 by Top Chef season 13 winner Jeremy Ford, Stubborn Seed’s name pays homage to the persistence required to open a restaurant. The 72-cover space marries concrete with warm wooden notes. Tables are matt black and burlap napkins are tied with herb sprigs. Artful precision and delicate composition elevate the ordinary – simple greens, warm celery root, organic chicken, butter-poached lobster – into the eminently memorable. Edible flowers are liberally used to embellish Ford’s dishes and a stellar line-up of cocktails.
