As one of America’s premier wine regions, the Napa Valley has long attracted great culinary talent, and with Press, owner Samantha Rudd and chef Philip Tessier shine a light on the beautiful bounty that the region has to offer. Originally a steakhouse in 2007, today the restaurant’s biggest showstopper is its extensive collection of wine. Some have said it’s the world’s largest collection of Napa bottlings with a menu that spans over 200 pages and more than 2,000 bottles, including vintages that date back to the 1950s and, given its prime real estate on the St. Helena highway, it's not uncommon to find local winemakers rubbing elbows in the dining room on any given night. Chef Tessier creates menus depending on what ingredients grow locally every season, ranging from spring peas and mushrooms to squash and sweet corn, presenting them with whimsical garnishes to stimulate the senses.
