Abu Dhabi Edition

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Commanding a waterfront stretch of the downtown district in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi’s Edition hotel sits near to the city’s Corniche, as well as the iconic Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental and the Sheikh Zayad Heritage Centre. The Al Bateen Marina provides a shimmering outlook for marina-view rooms. As you might expect from an Abu Dhabi opening, this Edition iteration is superlative – but don’t read that as gregarious. A lattice-laced exterior of swooping, stylised curves house a five-story lobby, 198 rooms and 57 residences, six dining and drinking venues – led by Tom Aikens' Oak Room restaurant – a club, a gym and spa with seven treatment suites. Interiors are pared back, with earthy textures and accents of gold adding gravitas to otherwise muted hues. There are acres of oak panelling in suites and dining spaces that adds a minimalist edge to the hotel’s sand-coloured looks. Le Labo toiletries grace the indulgent bathrooms. Even the most basic room class – deluxe – is spacious and includes a small terrace. In all, quiet luxury rules supreme in this modern desert palace.
