Hutong

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

This stylish, spice-infused spot in the DIFC really comes alive at night, when each of its scarlet cushions is filled with suits sipping lychee- and yuzu-infused cocktails under a giant ‘wishing tree’ – a nod to the Lam Tsuen Wishing Tree in Hong Kong, where the Hutong restaurant group was born. Although the 'Imperial' menu is one of the more unusual brunch options in the city – think mapo mushroom dumplings and wok-tossed seabass with leek – the kitchen’s defining dishes are refined versions of the fiery recipes from China’s Sichuan province: crispy broad beans, wok-tossed lobster and bouncy seabass dumplings. Prices are more suited to expense accounts than casual dining, but the set business lunch is great value with three courses for $30.
