Estelle Manor
Witney
A country estate reimagined for modern luxury
The story so far: Set on a 85-acre parkland estate in the Oxfordshire countryside, Estelle Manor is the sister property to London's Maison Estelle. The Grade II-listed Jacobean revival house has been carefully restored and expanded into a 108-room retreat that feels at once historic and contemporary, blending stately grandeur with a playful edge.
How does it feel? The atmosphere is that of a members' club in the country: discreet yet sociable. Interiors mix period details with bold fabrics, rich textures and eclectic art, creating spaces that feel indulgent but never stiff. Gardens, terraces and woodland trails frame the property, making it as much a place for languid afternoons as for lively weekends.
How do guests spend their time? Days unfold between the manicured lawns, spa and countryside pursuits. Guests can swim, play padel, or take to the estate's woodlands for long walks. The Manor House itself hosts lounges and salons for private gatherings, while the broader estate offers activities from clay pigeon shooting to cycling. Its Roman-inspired bathhouse opened in February 2024, and has quickly become a destination in its own right.
What about the rooms? Each bedroom is individually styled, some in the main house with high ceilings and original panelling, others in the more secluded outbuildings with private terraces or garden views. Interiors carry a sense of drama, with velvet, brass and marble offset by soft, restful palettes that anchor the design.
On the menu: There are several dining spaces across the estate. The glasshouse-inspired Brasserie serves British dishes with a focus on produce from the surrounding region. The wood-panelled Billiards Room and the more relaxed Glasshouse cater to different moods, while private dining spaces are available for more intimate gatherings. Cocktails are poured with precision, whether taken by the fire in winter or on the terrace in summer.
Who's checking in? A cosmopolitan crowd seeking privacy without losing proximity to London. Members of Estelle's wider community are regulars, though the hotel welcomes non-members too. Couples, families and groups of friends use it as both a base for countryside escapes and a playground for long weekends of dining, spa indulgence and country pursuits, all wrapped in contemporary British style.
