Feel the ritmo magic

What happens when two of the world's most revered bartenders open a bar together in Hong Kong? The answer: a gloriously fun-fuelled homage to party-era 1970s Miami and Cuban cocktail history. The titans in question: Lorenzo Antinori from Hong Kong's now-iconic Bar Leone, and bartending giant Simone Caporale of Sips and Boadas fame.

The party at Montana starts as soon as you set foot into the bar to the shouts of "ritmo!" from its dapperly dressed team adorned with white shirts and drooping black bowties. Inside, the aesthetic forgoes standard tropical clichés for moody orange leather banquettes and dark green walls set to a soundtrack that joyfully bounces from Abba to Tito Puente and is guaranteed to get you grooving.

Drinks fall in line with its visual identity through a seriously well-crafted selection of '70s classics, delivered in a fantastically unserious package (cocktail umbrellas included). Its signature must-order daiquiri comes served in a flower-shaped, green-hued glass and leans fully into the maximalist ethos. When it comes to the humble piña colada, rotisserie-caramelised pineapple and toasted coconut offer unseen but heavy hitting upgrades to make Montana's rendition a cut above most. Don't skip on the short but sweet menu of Latin American-inspired snacks, including chips and dip topped with a smoked queso, chorizo and Bar Leone's legendary smoked olives, and moreish cubano sliders.
