Camparino in Galleria
Milan
Stylish, multi-level Milanese institution
Three distinct experiences unfold at Camparino in Galleria, the historic Milan institution that has occupied its place beside the Duomo for 110 years. On the ground floor, Bar di Passo preserves the atmosphere of the classic Milanese bar. Colourful mosaics, a commanding wooden counter and the constant hum of the city make it the natural setting for an aperitivo built around timeless serves such as the Campari Seltz or the Campari Shakerato. Upstairs, the Sala Spiritello shifts the mood toward contemporary cocktail culture. This is where Camparino's more inventive side takes shape, through signature drinks that have become closely associated with the venue, including the Compadre, a mezcal-driven twist on the negroni.
To mark its century legacy, the bar has introduced an anthology menu featuring one cocktail for each decade of its history. Among them is the Lacto Garibaldi, a sharper, more layered take on the Italian classic, where orange juice gains depth through the natural lacto-fermentation of orange peels.
For something quieter and more rarefied, the Sala Gaspare offers a different register entirely. Hidden on the lower level, this intimate space is dedicated to private tastings, vintage spirits and a more immersive exploration of Campari's history through cocktails and food pairings. Overseeing the experience is Tommaso Cecca and his team, dressed in crisp white jackets: a detail that feels entirely in keeping with a place where hospitality remains as choreographed and unmistakably Milanese as the aperitivo ritual itself.
