Globetrotting serves with French flair
Tucked away in Paris's historic Galerie Vivienne, Danico, a bar renowned for its stylish, conceptual drinks, is a testament to the globe-trotting vision of its owner, Nico de Soto. Located within the former flagship store of fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier, the space is a study in chic design, blending bold colours and clean lines with the plush comfort of velvet and gold accents. Its discreet entrance, accessible through the bustling Italian restaurant Daroco, adds to the sense of discovery. The creative heart of Danico lies in its constantly evolving cocktail programme, the Xplorer series launched in 2023. This concept, inspired by de Soto's extensive travels, takes guests on a journey to a new country with each new menu. The collection has been widely praised by critics, successively paying tribute to Indonesia, Mexico, Japan, India and Peru. After this global journey, the team has now symbolically settled in France with an edition dedicated to the country's diverse flavours.
Among the standout creations is the Café de Flore, a nod to the iconic Parisian café "where croissants mingle with philosophers and tourists". This French twist on the espresso martini blends vodka, Cointreau, Picon, chicory cold brew and toasted croissant notes, served in a coffee cup with a miniature house-made croissant. To mark its 10th anniversary, Danico celebrates its legacy with a menu bringing together the three most emblematic cocktails from each chapter, reinforcing its status as a leading force on the global cocktail scene, where technical precision meets unexpected flavour combinations.
