Fine dining and fine drinking in a Milanese masterpiece

Among Milan's most visually arresting bars, Moebius makes an immediate impression. The space sits somewhere between industrial minimalism and raw brutalism, defined by a towering concrete back bar and a long counter that greets guests the moment they walk in. Beyond the entrance, the room opens into a layered social landscape of vintage armchairs, deep sofas and a large communal wooden table, where cocktails by bar manager Giovanni Allario are paired with a tapas selection created by chef Enrico Croatti. A vinyl corner for record shopping and a stage for live music add to the atmosphere, while upstairs, the fine dining restaurant Sperimentale offers a multi-course tasting menu.

Opened just a few years ago by young Tuscan entrepreneur Lorenzo Querci, Moebius quickly established itself on the international radar, thanks to a style of hospitality that feels polished without ever becoming stiff. Behind the bar, the cocktail programme begins with familiar classics, then shifts them through a single defining ingredient or unexpected flavour profile. Carrot Bamboo, for instance, layers vermouth, gin and manzanilla with carrot, yuzu and shiso for a drink that moves between Europe and East Asia in a single sip. Then there is the Pesto Martini, one of the house signatures and a must-order bestseller. A nod to Allario's Genoese roots, it combines vodka, vermouth, house-made pesto and a touch of balsamic vinegar, for an intensely Italian sip.
