Gimlet at Cavendish House

Melbourne, Australia

Inspired by the glamour of 20th-century Chicago, Gimlet at Cavendish House is the recent brainchild of acclaimed chef Andrew McConnell. Reposing in a large, brightly lit building in central Melbourne, the restaurant is hailed as a space for all seasons and reasons. The comfortable leather booths and exclusive high tables invite both large family lunches and intimate romantic evenings. An upstairs private dining room is also available to parties of up to 12, offering seating on the mezzanine overlooking the bustling restaurant. The wood-fired oven is the centrepiece of the open kitchen, spinning out classics such as dry-aged Muscovy duck breast with Corella pear and liquorice, and grass-fed tomahawk. A meal would be incomplete without a cocktail, many of which are Prohibition-inspired, or a glass of wine. There are over 450 labels to chose from, all selected by head sommelier Anthony Pieri.
