A Bela Sintra

São Paulo, Brazil

Known for serving the best Portuguese food in São Paulo, A Bela Sintra is owned by charming Portuguese restaurateur Carlos Bettencourt, who has been in Brazil for 35 years, and his wife, chef Patricia Sampaio. Naturally, it’s all about the bacalhau – with cod featuring in no less than 15 different dishes from ‘Nunca Chega,’ a classic pot featuring ham, eggs and potato chips, to ‘Lagareiro,’ where the fish is oven-baked in olive oil. Sampaio also serves plenty of seafood dishes such as lobster thermidor and mixed rice, alongside house specials like Bela Sintra’s filet mignon. Completing the truly family business, Bettencourt runs the elegant dining room with his son Miguel.
