The servers here know their onions. And their fish. And their rabbit. But they really, really know their wines (natural bien sûr) and which to pair with each plate – impressive as the menu constantly changes. Seasonality and freshness are Mon Lapin’s watchwords. They keep the plates coming, you get on with enjoying yourself. The young, fun vibe with sophisticated French/Italian inspired food and an impressive wine list are the brainchildren of husband-and-wife team Marc-Olivier Frappier and Vanya Filipovic (chef and sommelier respectively). Opened in 2018 in the Little Italy quarter of Montréal, the bar/restaurant has rapidly become a standout address for local gourmands which is why it’s always best to book, although they do save some tables for walk ins. A menu staple is whipped canola butter with home baked wheat stalk bread, which has a fragrance that will set you salivating as soon as you open the door.
