The first restaurant outside Europe for the famous Italian Cerea family whose original BrUSporto eatery has been so iconic for over 50 years. Chef Stefano Bachelli has worked with brothers Enrico and Roberto Cerea for the last 10 years and successfully brings Italian food and wine to Shanghai, albeit some dishes with a Chinese twist. As well as a la carte there are two tasting menus (one of which focuses on seafood, the other ’14 unique and surprising courses) and service is, as one would expect, superb. A substitute of local fish maw for cod belly in a signature pasta dish translates well, as does Chinese yellow croacker served instead of sea bass in their signature ‘Cressida’ sauce. Feast under crystal chandeliers and enjoy views of Shanghai’s Bund waterfront and financial centre Lujiazui through stained glass windows. Naturally, many diners come after work and are wearing suits, so it’s definitely a time to dig out your glad rags.
