Alcove is set within Ensue, a restaurant that opened in Shenzen in 2019 with the mission of becoming China's best. To bolster its chances, three-star Michelin chef Christopher Kostow has come across from The Restaurant at Meadowood in Napa Valley, to create a farm-to-table tasting menu and oversee this ambitious drinking den while he's at it. As you might expect, the space is seriously luxe, but steers clear of ostentation, whilst there's a gastronomic bent to the drinks themselves. One creation is dedicated to expressing the flavour of a native South East Asian flowering plant: Osmanthus Three Ways, which mixes red date goji gin, osmanthus oolong syrup, osmanthus wine, osmanthus foam and lemon.
