L'Avenue

Shenzhen, China

A Scottish chef, who cut his teeth in London's Michelin-starred kitchens, cooking French food in Shenzhen? It's not something you see every day, but that's what you'll find at L'Avenue, where Arran McCredie - whose former posts include stints at Hong Kong's esteemed Black Sheep Restaurants, London's Kitchen Table (two Michelin stars) and Lyle's (one Michelin star and ranked at number 33 on The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2023) - is now serving some of the city's finest Gallic fare in a Parisian-styled dining room. Dishes are elegant and elaborate without being needlessly fussy and menus could include roasted duck breast with daikon and sauce au poivre or blue lobster with broccoli and sauce Périgourdine or a dessert of Tarte Piémontaise, hazelnut cream and chocolate ganache. There's also a refined brunch offering that is well worth seeking out.
