Costes

Paris, France

A vision of clandestine haute couture with a clubby members. house vibe. Drawn in by the des-res sentiment Costes flaunts, an eclectic glam squad of A-listers and globetrotters flock for its sense of exclusivity, playfulness and discretion. With a facade looking more like an Amsterdam club than a five-star Parisian hotel – all black paint, gold curtains and bordello-red window boxes – you’ll find it tucked away behind the Jardin des Tuileries. It’s a venerable address that has seen the flagship property (Saint-Honoré, opened in 1995) grow into a cleverly pitched trio of hotels connected by secret doorways. Taking an audacious approach to design, interiors are a genre-twisting movement between modern minimalism and over-the-top opulence. A curated art collection backs it all. Conceptualised so as to create atmosphere, each ‘wing’ channels its own spirit. Flock wallpaper and racy reds – the work of Jacques Garcia – are representative of Saint-Honoré’s neo-boudoir rooms, while Castiglione suites – entrusted to Christian Liaigre – are a sleek slice of angelic whitewashed finery. A real effervescence pervades the space; an in-house radio station pumps vibey tunes, the sexy bar bubbles ‘until very, very late’, oh, and it’s home to one of the biggest pool in Paris, complete with curtained day beds, no less.
