Ichigo Ichie

Cork, Ireland

Japanese chef Takashi Miyazaki created Ireland’s first kaiseki tasting menu restaurant in the kappou style, meaning all sushi and sashimi are prepared by the counter chef in front of the diner. The chef, who also runs Miyazaki in Cork, serves three seasonal menus, the Kappou counter, the Stone Garden and Harmony Dining (in the same room as the counter). His kaiseki menu runs through about 15 courses that might include octopus with aubergine and daikon, courgette flower tempura and bluefin tuna nigiri. Ichigo Ichie means ‘once in a lifetime’.
