Bar 51

Tel Aviv, Israel

Make your way inland from the beach and look for the hip crowd of regulars hanging out outside the Ramona hotel then follow pace – this industrial wine bar wrote the rulebook on pared-back, confident cuisine. Backing up the solid wine list, Moshiko Gamieli’s accompanying small plates are a lesson in no fuss, all flavour. Ingredients are fresh and seasonal, with many sourced direct from the bustling Carmel Market just a quick walk away. Picking up on the flavours of the Med, tuna crudo with crème fraiche and pappardelle silken with crab butter and lemon are emblematic. Though don’t miss the ever-evolving cheeseboard. In typical too-cool-for-school Tel Aviv style, it’s effortlessly on trend, with bells and whistles swerved in exchange for rough-luxe concrete, hanging plants and a simple long bar punctuated by tall bistro stools slinking the length of the space.
