Craftroom

Osaka, Japan

This petite Osaka bar – there are just six seats at the counter – is marked by the most unassuming of entrances, with its name in the tiniest of fonts on the wall as you enter. Craftroom is set within the station building, a classy spot for whisky and cocktails. It’s the creation of acclaimed bartender Ryu Fujii, formerly of Osaka’s Bar K, where he honed his skills before opening his own here in 2020, in the midst of the Covid pandemic. He creates twists on classic cocktails within a seasonally changing menu, and is known for his non-alcoholic cocktail creations too. There are bar snacks, the centrepiece of which are the freshly-baked pies, such as peach with Earl Grey or pumpkin, which change monthly, and there’s a jazz soundtrack throughout. All of this is beginning to attract attention – Craftroom was ranked on Asia's 50 Best Bars in 2023.
