Kagurazaka Ishikawa

Tokyo, Japan

This three Michelin star restaurant is accessed via a stone path purified with water in accordance with Shinto traditions, at the end of which a pond glimmers with brilliant red fish and traditional umbrellas hang ready for guests’ use in the event of rain. This attention to detail extends to the traditional kaiseki cuisine, served at a slick, seven-seat counter and in minimalist private rooms accommodating up to six. Chef Hideki Ishikawa’s ten-course tasting menu is a feast for the senses, containing the likes of crispy sea turtle croquettes, buttery horsehead snapper and clay-pot rice showstoppers.
