After a major refresh, Park Hyatt Tokyo is back to doing what it does best – enveloping guests in the highest luxury. Quite literally – the iconic five-star stretches out from the 39th to the 52nd floor of Shinjuku Park Tower, a gravity-defying architectural masterpiece designed by Kenzo Tange. Immortalised in the film Lost in Translation, all those details that made us fall in love with the hotel on screen remain, thanks to Paris-based design studio Jouin Manku, from the calm spaces and the interplay of light and shadow to the scene-stealing skyline views that pop up from unexpected vantage points. Keen to retain its spirit of quiet luxury, the rooms embrace fluid layouts and tactile materials. Wet-room bathrooms come with deep soaking tubs. Girandole by Alain Ducasse makes its debut, where guests dine on cocotte of lobster with truffle macaroni and chocolate soufflé; the black-and-chrome grandeur of the New York Grill is back and so is its seductive bar, with the return of the L.I.T., a pink sake-based cocktail inspired by the film. Kozue continues to present modern Japanese cuisine with Mt. Fuji views. The two-storey Club on the Park spa offers a pool, state-of-the-art gym, marble whirlpools, s, cold plunges and every manner of treatments, all in the clouds.
