Prado

Lisbon, Portugal

Housed in a former fish factory – all soaring ceilings, huge windows, sage woodwork and trailing greenery – Prado ('Meadow') is led by talented young chef António Galapito. Having returned to take up the post following a stint working with Nuno Mendes in London, Galapito's menus are a celebration of farm-to-table eating, bringing a little eclecticism to traditional Portuguese cooking (hispi cabbage, goat's cheese whey and walnuts; cockles, spinach coriander and fried bread; and Iberico pork loin with chard). Fish also features – marinated sea bass might appear with olives and capers; smoked eel comes with goat's butter and artichokes; cockles are served with fried bread. The wine list, comprising organic, biodynamic and natural varieties, is also worthy of attention, as are the decadent, Instagram-friendly desserts. The staff are super friendly and helpful.
