- No.25 The World's 50 Best Vineyards 2025
Releasing its first Cava in 1921, Gramona has grown to become one of the benchmark producers in Catalonia. Revered for its long-aged cavas – their top drop is aged for more than a decade – the family-run winery lies 30km south of Barcelona in Alt Penedés. Respecting their roots, the vineyards are managed according to organic and biodynamic principles, and are ploughed by horses. You'll get a taste of this during a guided horse ride through the vineyards, where you'll see sheep and chickens roaming around. Back at the winery you can explore its labyrinthine cellars and learn about how Gramona's cavas are crafted then taste through the range at its in-house wine bar, or enjoy the wines paired with seasonal produce from its biodynamic farm in a private dining room overlooking the vines.
