With its views out onto the fishing port of Getaria and outstanding seafood cooked on a customised grill, Kaia Kaipe has remained a favourite of Basque locals and visitors since 1962. Even if you couldn't see the glittering Cantabrian Sea from the windows, there is no mistaking you're by the coast – the restaurant has been designed to give guests a feeling of being inside a boat, all polished teak, gleaming metal accents and crisp white table linen. An acclimatised terrace is open year-round. The list of whole grilled fish for two includes turbot, sea bream and sole, while the seafood menu offers barnacles, oysters, crayfish and raw or grilled clams. There's also a much smaller selection of meat dishes – and a long list of wines, with over 40,000 bottles from all over the world.
