Founded in Rioja Alta 1852, Marqués de Murrieta is among the grand dames of Rioja, and was the first to export its silky reds abroad. Long-aged reds and whites are the stars of the show here. Its iconic white – Castillo Ygay Blanco Gran Reserva Especial – rests for a staggering 21 years in American oak. Seamlessly fusing tradition and modernity, the Rioja stalwart has upped its oenotourism game, having given its 300-hectate Castillo Yqay estate a grand refurb with the addition of a shiny new winery and museum. High rollers can arrive by helicopter or private jet, tour the vineyards and cellars, then tuck into a tasting menu paired with some of Murrieta's best wines, including Capellanía 2020 and Marqués de Murrieta 2021.
