Floor-to-ceiling windows, wooden chairs and a marble floor – the decor is as simple as the concept at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel’s peaceful restaurant. A display of fresh seafood on a bed of ice nods to Colombo’s Peliyagoda Fish Market, except here every item is the catch of the day: lobsters, garupa, prawns – all are exceptionally fresh and cooked to each guest’s specifications. The market traders could certainly learn a thing or two about service from the front of house team, who are attentive without fawning. Unsurprisingly this level of finesse comes at a cost and you can expect to pay far, far more than market prices here.
