- No.29 Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2022
Featuring some of the best sushi that you’ll find outside Japan, Sushi Masato is the brainchild of chef Masato Shimizu. Buoyed from his success in Tokyo and New York, Shimizu opened an outpost in Bangkok, which was one of the first Omakase-style restaurants in the capital. His myriad courses are served on different floors of the building, strictly according to style: the first floor is Shimizu’s base, where he serves guests at the chef’s counter, while on the third floor, diners are treated to bites with a New York twist. Shimizu sources his premium ingredients from some of Japan’s best suppliers, transforming them into his signatures: Ankimo, slow-cooked monkfish liver, and Anago, seawater eel. The drinks menu is just as comprehensive, with traditional sakes, Japanese whiskies and other spirits that complement the spectacular sushi fare.
