Beirut Sur Mer
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Be sure to book ahead to snag a table at this beachfront hotspot – it’s with good reason people are talking about it. Tickling the sand on Saadiyat Island, a stone’s throw from the Louvre Abu Dhabi, it’s a vibrant space that manages to balance that easy breezy vibe you want from a coastal locale with superlative service, gorgeous design and exemplary food. As the name eludes, Lebanese cuisine is the hero here and a lengthy all-day menu undulates from myriad salads and meze to mashawi mixed grills laced with emblematic flavour, begging diners to linger over their culinary soujourn to the Levant. Highlights include lahm mechwi – tenderloin with walnut and tomatoes – and kreydes, griddled jumbo pawns with za’atar and molasses and shawarma croquettes. And dessert? Served tableside, the likes of millefuille Beiruty – with whispy fronts of pastry, muhalabiyeh ice cream nuts and a heavenly hint of orange blossom – is as Instagrammable as it is delicious.
