The American Bar at Gleneagles

Auchterarder, UK

You’d expect the bar at the famously decadent Gleneagles to live up to its reputation, and the American Bar certainly does. Rooted in the hotel’s 1920s origins, the bar takes its cues from the glamour of the era, spread over four rooms, with stained-glass windows, velvet banquettes and a mirrored wall that anchors the room. Cocktails have been designed with flair, leaning on a zero waste system that uses ingredients that would have otherwise been thrown out.The gin-based Blossom Breeze, for example, repurposes green apple peels into an aromatic hydrosol, while the Breakfast Punch uses leftover almond milk with bourbon, citrus and a chocolate infusion. Embellished with botanical illustrations, the menu even includes care tips for the plants that inspire each drink.
