Boasting a formidable reputation, yet surprisingly unpretentious, The Waterside Inn restaurant with rooms nestles on the banks of the Thames in the picture-postcard village of Bray. A Roux dynasty affair since 1972, it is today run by Michel’s son Alain, whose army of 24 chefs is ably led by Belgian head chef Fabrice Uhryn. Diners choose between a full à la carte, the ‘Menu Exceptionnel’, available for lunch and dinner, or the lighter, lunchtime ‘Menu Gastronomique’.
