Balfour Winery
Kent, UK
- No.96 The World's 50 Best Vineyards 2025
Set within 160 hectares of Kent countryside on a Tudor estate, Balfour's winery (founded in 2004) offers not only vineyards to wander through but meadows, woods and orchards – you'll see plenty of grapes, of course, but apples, oak trees, deer and maybe even the odd owl, too. You're invited to roam unguided or book onto one of the many tour options. Full estate tours run during the summer months, lasting two hours and including a tasting of six wines, with alternatives available in winter. Monthly 'Art and Wine Evenings' exhibit works from the owners' private collection, and seasonal events abound, all introducing you to the ever‑growing collection of sparkling and now still wines. The premium option is a long, indulgent lunch that reveals otherwise hidden parts of the grounds and limited‑edition wines, with private transfers included.
