Sketch

London, UK

As its whimsical name suggests, Sketch is all about eye-popping, immersive art, but you'd never guess from its well-to-do Georgian façade. Inside, every room of this 18th-century townhouse has a distinct personality, brimming with quirky features – from the iconic egg-shaped toilet pods to the fairy-tale forest-themed Glade bar. A gastro-brasserie sits inside the Gallery, which is decorated wall-to-wall in soft pink tones, with velvet and leather seats and 200 prints by visual artist David Shrigley. Here, diners can enjoy a refined a la carte menu filled with classic dishes such as haddock soufflé, Cornish langoustines and beef tartare, or plump for one of the most extravagant afternoon teas in London, complete with caviar 'egg and soldiers' and lemon marshmallow petits gateaux. Meanwhile, in the Lecture Room and Library, meticulously crafted tasting menus showcase contemporary European cuisine at its most creative.
