The Araki

London, UK

Obsessive attention to detail has earned sushi master Mitsuhiro Araki three Michelin stars at this exclusive nine-seater restaurant in Mayfair. There are just two sittings a night at the 200-year-old cypress wood counter and only one set menu, which comes at a hefty price and with little ability to accommodate dietary requirements. Everything is just so, from the bespoke tableware to the unique sake glasses and rice that is grown by Araki’s father-in-law back in Japan. The soups, sashimi and barely cooked seafood is prepared and served by Araki himself according to the historic Japanese tradition of Sado (tea ceremony) hospitality. A truly one-off dining experience.
