Faena

Miami, US

Visionary developer Alan Faena followed up a masterpiece in his native Argentina with a landmark Miami Beach project. The OMA/Rem Koolhaus designed Faena Forum, a collection of unique event spaces, Faena Theater, a 150 seat cabaret, are all visual marvels. Inside the deco-inspired facade, artist Baz Luhrman and production designer Catherine Martin created a dreamscape beginning with the surrealist ‘Cathedral’ lobby, a palo santo-scented temple of ocean views and Juan Gatti murals. Capping it all off is a gold and glass cage housing Damian Hirst’s magnum opus, ‘Wooly Mammoth’. Within the 179 rooms and suites, expect more deco influences as well as bursts of colour: red velvet here, turquoise there. The bathrooms boast Carrara marble and amenities from the in-house spa, Tierra Santa Healing House. 24-hour butler service will cater to all needs, be they drawing baths or arranging a meal on Faena’s huge white sand beach. The well-heeled guests congregate at the property’s three bars and four restaurants. Argentina megachef Francis Mallmann’s Los Fuegos is a hot ticket as is Pao from celebrity chef Paul Qui.
