Momofuku Noodle Bar
New York, US
The jewel in celebrity chef David Chang's crown, Momofuku Noodle Bar is a must-visit when in New York. There's one Uptown at Columbus Circle, though the original is in the East Village. First-timers should take a seat at the buzzy counter (be prepared to wait in line) and order the pickle plate of spicy cucumbers, kimchi and jalapeños while perusing the menu, followed by the pork ramen served with barley noodles and an egg on top. For those with a high spice tolerance, add extra chilli crunch. There's also a sit-down large format meal option of fried chicken – one served southern-style, the other Korean-style – with scallion pancakes and vegetables for groups of four to eight, which must be booked in advance. Or push the boat out and have the fried chicken with caviar option or the whole roasted suckling pig.
