Atoboy

New York, US

Fine dining darling Atomix has become of New York City’s most elusive reservations; fortunately, partners Jeongeun “Ellia” Park and Junghyun “JP” Park had first opened the casual Atoboy to feed – literally – the city’s insatiable hunger for Korean food. Tucked away in the bustling Koreatown neighborhood, Atoboy’s communal tables and concrete walls create a lo-fi vibe. The cuisine, however, is high taste: think riffs on traditional side dishes or banchan. The plates, bright in flavour and presentation, are presented as a choose-your-own-adventure: three-course prix fixe meals. (Note: the legendary fried chicken with spicy peanut sauce and yangyummy sauce is available as an add-on.) Desserts, a second supplement, include the much beloved sujeonggwa granita with lychee yogurt, walnut and burrata cheese. The hip, foodie crowd provides a perfect audience for an eclectic wine list that focuses on cult favourites like neutral domain favorite Hiyu Farms and Finger Lake pioneer Hermann J Wiemer. The unicorn wines are a perfect fit for Atoboy, where the stripped down motif allows guests to focus on flavour.
