Vetri Cucina

Philadelphia, US

Philadelphia native Marc Vetri opened this influential Italian restaurant in a historic townhouse in 1998 after spending years studying traditional cuisine in Italy, and Vetri Cucina has been collecting accolades ever since. This mainstay continues to be a charming experience thanks to the warm hospitality afforded by the skilled staff. Currently, there are two dining options: a four-course Classic tasting menu and a seasonal Forchetta multi-course chef-selected menu. The Classic, in true Italian form, features an antipasti, pasta, secondi, and dessert – each with options to choose from. Think torta di carciofi with spinach and citrus; smoked spaghetti with clams; turbot with coconut milk oolong; and molten pistachio cake with coffee cocoa nib gelato. As a community-minded initiative, all grains used to make bread, pasta and pastry are sustainably grown and milled in-house; the produce, meat, cheeses and other dried goods are sourced from local purveyors. And, while the restaurant does not have a sit-down bar, a collection of spirits, beers, and wines – from their extensive 2,500+ bottle collection – showcase some of the best Italy has to offer.
