To serve thirsty patrons in the Kansas City suburb of Shawnee, experienced barman Jay Sanders (formerly of Manifesto) helped open this friendly, unpretentious neighbourhood cocktail bar with co-owner Jill Cockson in the summer of 2020. The programme is marked by quick service and creative cocktails, such as the Kill Bill, made with tequila, pineapple, ginger, thai chili and lemon. Despite its small footprint – with room for only 45 people, a red light/green light system out front indicates when the bar is full or not – Drastic Measures promises a convivial ambiance with several different spaces designed for comfortable hangs. A great place to meet friends for a quick round or two, the bar offers no wine, no beer, no reservations and no pretension.
