Evolution: Sachi’s follow-up outlet to its first location in Cairo city centre turns up the volume in almost every sense. A double-height ceiling with mezzanine seating, a large outdoor bar and a show kitchen support strides made in the menu. With the benefit of consult chef Reif Othman’s culinary vision, the menu introduced occidental flavors while staying true to the core pillars of sharing, family and comfort that defines the food at all Sachi outlets.

Design and dining: Interior architecture firm Alchemy Designs, led by Mohamed Fares, does not detract from the cuisine, but helps emphasise it. Indirect lighting for pathways contrast with direct overhead lighting on the tables. Kitchen countertops are as attractive as the dining tables. A large indoor arboreal installation in lunar red warms the indoor space.

Greatest hits and remixes: The well-loved chateaubriand steak sits alongside new additions like the bibimbap for two and duck linguine; both exotic additions to the culinary vocabulary of Sachi. The dessert menu has all the greats; an apple tarte tatin and date pudding, alongside a playful flourish in the tres leches with saffron milk and cotton candy.

Time your visit accordingly: Early evening visits are best for intimate dinners, as the outdoor bar starts coming to life in the late evenings. Enjoy a meal, then dance in the crisp night air.
