Argentine chef Germán Martitegui was honoured last month with the Chefs’ Choice Award 2017, sponsored by Estrella Damm, at the fifth edition of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants. We take 50 seconds to hear his answers to some of life’s crucial questions.

Germán Martitegui is chef-owner of Tegui, No.49 in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list and recently nominated The Best Restaurant in Argentina for the fifth time in a row in Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2017. A popular ambassador of contemporary Argentine cuisine around the world, Martitegui was bound for a career in international relations when his life took a turn upon becoming the assistant of pâtissière Beatriz Chomnalez.

On Tuesday 24th October, he received the Chefs’ Choice Award, sponsored by Estrella Damm, a prize voted for by his peers in the Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants list. A pupil of legendary Argentine cook Francis Mallmann and the creator of Proyecto Tierras, a road-trip project that visits producers around Argentina to invite them to pop up at his restaurant, Martitegui is a lover of sticky-sweet caramel dulce de leche and the first meal of the day.
