Raise a glass: Margaret River set to host The World’s 50 Best Vineyards 2025 awards

The leaders, creators and curators of the world’s finest wineries will gather in Margaret River, Western Australia on 19 November to discover which venue will be ranked The World’s Best Vineyard 2025 at the most prestigious international wine awards on the planet.

The World’s 50 Best Vineyards awards (formerly known as the World’s Best Vineyards) returns in 2025 with a brand-new name after joining the globally renowned 50 Best brand portfolio. Now part of the established group alongside The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, The World’s 50 Best Bars and The World’s 50 Best Hotels, the annual ranking will continue to spotlight and celebrate leading wine tourism destinations around the globe.

With a unique wine culture that’s home to more than 200 vineyards and cellars, otherworldly natural landscapes and a plethora of gastronomic gems just waiting to be discovered, the Margaret River region in the south-western part of Western Australia is a natural host for this year’s event programme. This year's event is held in partnership with Tourism Western Australia.

On-the-ground activities kick off with a three-day tour of some of the most celebrated vineyards of the area, where media and Academy Chairs will discover the very best bottles and vintages, before culminating in the live awards ceremony, where wine makers and winery owners listed from 1 to 50 will discover their official rankings.

In addition to the 1-50 listing, there will be a series of awards for the highest-ranking vineyards in each continent, plus a number of special accolades including the Highest Climber Award – presented to the vineyard that has ascended the most numerical places in the 2025 ranking versus the 2024 edition – and the Highest New Entry Award.

The list itself is compiled from the votes of The World’s 50 Best Vineyards Academy, made up of more than 700 influential wine and travel experts and sommeliers, who submit their nominations based on their best vineyard experience during the voting period. There is no set criteria for what constitutes ‘best’ and vineyards cannot apply to be on the list. You can read more about the voting process, and the Academy Chairs here.

In the weeks preceding the live event, the vineyards ranked in the extended list from 51st to 100th will also be revealed via 50 Best’s social media channels, shining the spotlight on an even more diverse and exciting array of wine-tasting destinations around the world.
