Wellness retreats for every personality type

Making the concept of a 'fly and flop' look a little lacklustre, the latest wellness experiences offer more ohm for your buck. These retreats will sate whatever you're craving, whether inspiration with likeminded women, psychedelic highs, a karate education, tech touches or more.

For city-lovers: Raffles Singapore

Turns out, the legendary home of the Singapore Sling also knows a thing or two about urban wellness. Sitting pretty in lush gardens, the hotel's spa boasts seven treatment rooms, gemstone-infused water and rituals such as the Sumatra Healing Ceremony, starring traditional herbs and Indonesian massage techniques. For uber zen, opt for the two-night World of Wellness package, which includes two massages, a poolside yoga class at sunrise, sound healing, yoga nidra and complimentary spa access. Did we mention the daily breakfast of pastries, charcuterie and salads?

For creative types: Patina Maldives

If you're after a festival that leaves you feeling inspired, not depleted, look to Patina Maldives. On 13-16 August 2026, the hotel will host its second annual Fari Islands Festival, blending wellness, art, conservation, dining and music. The line-up is yet to be announced, but last year's highlights included readings and discussions with Canadian poet and illustrator Rupi Kaur, movement therapies hosted by wellness expert CJ Jones-Leake, and guided snorkelling trips with National Geographic Explorer and shark scientist Gibbs Kuguru.

For psychedelics-seekers: Etéreo Baja, California

Psychedelic-curious? Put your trip (figurative and literal) in safe hands with Etéreo Baja, a luxury retreat that combines medical-grade psychedelic (plant medicine) experiences with zero-waste culinary artistry and regenerative eco-architecture. Join one of Etéreo's eight-day iboga retreats on a 24-acre, off-grid sanctuary near Todos Santos, Mexico. Iboga, huachuma (San Pedro), and 5-MeO-DMT are legal in Mexico, drawing guests seeking alternative treatments for trauma, addiction, anxiety and life transitions. Etéreo was founded by facilitators Paije West and Fletcher Burdick, who trained with indigenous practitioners in West Africa (where iboga originates) and Peru.

For tech geeks: The Mark, New York

Prefer wifi to woo-woo? Get your gadgety wellness fix courtesy of The Mark's new, 24-hour Technogym fitness centre. Personalise your workout, engage in AI-guided programmes, or choose from on-demand classes spanning strength, HIIT, mobility, pilates and yoga. The Penthouse Suite's private training room showcases Technogym's design driven, home fitness collection, while on the penthouse's terrace, you'll find a new, tech-forward cold plunge overlooking Central Park. The hotel will be launching its Epigenetic, Wellness and Longevity Centre by Augustinus Bader Sciences in early summer 2026, until then, guests can enjoy in-room massages and bodywork, IV drips, facials and skincare consultations in collaboration with aesthetics icon, Dr Barbara Sturm.

 For wannabe karate-kids: Hoshinoya Okinawa

Unleash your untapped karate skills with help from Hoshinoya Okinawa in Yomitan village, central Okinawa Island. On the three-night Ryukyu Holistic Wellness Programme, discover the art of Ryukyu karate at the on-site dojo, developing self-discipline through kata (choreographed movement), focusing on breath, posture and awareness. You'll also learn about 'kusuimun' (the Okinawan concept of a balanced diet, or 'medicine food'), with meals tailored to your physical condition and the season. Expect spa treatments, acupuncture, moxibustion acupressure, floating baths and breathwork, too.

For ocean-lovers: La Valencia Hotel, San Diego

We already loved the 'Pink Lady' for its blush-coloured Spanish Revival building and beachside La Jolla Cove setting – but now we love it harder for its year-round Coastal Clarity Retreat. During this overnight stay, enjoy either a 60-minute body polish or body wrap, followed by a 90-minute massage featuring warm Himalayan salt stones and a guided breath ritual. Get added glow thanks to a De-Puffing Energy Facial and enjoy a tea ritual and a cold-pressed juice shot. You'll also get a spa food-and-beverage credit, complimentary valet and a take-home bath truffle.

For female founders: The Collective on Retreat, Cotswolds

Frazzled females seeking soft networking and a total reset will love The Collective on Retreat's official debut getaway, 'The Renewed Intentions Retreat', taking place at Thyme, from 10-12 March 2026. Guests can expect movement classes led by Rachael Richards, intuition workshops, sound-healing ceremonies, restorative spa treatments and space to exhale. Begin the day with dynamic yoga and soothing sound baths; in the afternoon, pause for reflection or enjoy facials and massages. By night, the vibe shifts: candlelit dinners encourage conversation and connection. The Collective's Founder, entrepreneur Claire Vero, is the warm and wonderful host.

For dynamic yogis: Sandblu Resort, Santorini

Get your fix of chaturangas and inversions during Sandblu's Ashtanga Yoga Retreat, with two sets of dates to choose from in 2026: 30 May-6 June and 19-26 September. Led by lauded teacher Laruga Glaser, these seven-night intensives feature daily ashtanga yoga practices and guided workshops. Laruga's approach is shaped by nearly three decades of study and direct lineage training in Mysore, India, under Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and his grandson, R. Sharath Jois: the founder and torchbearer of the ashtanga yoga tradition. Sessions take place in open-air, nature-immersed settings – starring Santorini's Med views and mountains.
