Three Sheets (Soho)

London

Cool classics meets elevated bar food

It's a rarity, but sometimes the sequel is better than the original. Brothers Max and Noel Venning already had a 50 Best-ranked hit with the first Three Sheets, which opened in east London's Dalston just over a decade ago. In 2024, their Godfather Part II came in the form of a Soho follow-up, bringing the duo's deft blend of precise, intentional drinking and neighbourhood familiarity to the city's centre.

Over the pleasingly slick marble bar top, the Vennings et al serve an acutely curated selection of twists on classics. Among them is the much-lauded take on the French 75 – a carbonated combination of gin, clear lemon, orange flower, white wine, cloud tea, oak and verjus, which has travelled well from the other side of the city. A newcomer is the Sazzaquack, a Chinese spice-infused sazerac, served in a tumbler containing a (seemingly floating) glass duck.

Licensing dictates that guests need to eat, but it's a rule one is more than happy to abide by. Menai oysters with pickled cucumber, dill and house hot sauce or oil-slicked sourdough topped with fresh tomatoes are a martini's best friend, while the elevated take on the British 'Chip Butty' is a solid choice for those a little closer to the wind.
