Overlooking cloud-cloaked peaks and their Mendoza vineyards, the onsite bistro at Matias Riccitelli combines cellar touring, wine tasting and a first-rate alfresco meal into one irresistible package. Surrounded by knobbly old vines, your sun-drenched lunch – and it will be lunch, because that’s the only meal they serve – comes with the choice of two menus: a six-course version starring produce from their own organic gardens, or a multi-course Argentina-wide offering. The latter pulls on flavours, produce and cooking techniques from across the country, from arid Montes de Llanura to the Argentine Sea, and features dishes like miso-infused squid ‘noodle’ soup. Whichever menu you choose, bites will be washed down a succession of Riccitelli house pours, ranging from a sparkling Kung Fu Pet Nat to the intense Republica del Malbec.
