The Eve Hotel Sydney
Sydney, Australia
When The Eve opened in 2025, it put Wunderlich Lane well and truly on the map. Sydneysiders flocked to the new lifestyle precinct, on the border of Redfern and Surry Hills, for its indie stores and imaginative restaurants. But it’s the boutique hotel which steals the show, its architecture shaped to reflect the locale, all honey-coloured brickwork, softly curving balustrades and a central courtyard that’s lush with greenery. Inside, bright rendered walls and white, glazed breezeblocks bring an airiness, while the 102 rooms come in Australian flora and fauna-inspired shades of ochre and eucalyptus, each one with a Juliet balcony or terrace to further blur the indoor-outdoor line. The rooftop is a serious draw; landscaped to echo the site’s previous incarnation as one of the city’s pleasure gardens, it’s framed by exotic palm fronds and native plants. Here, guests sit beneath retro parasols or in bespoke cabanas around the 20-metre pool, before dining Mexican-style at restaurant and mescaleria Lottie. Scene-y Bar Julius on the ground floor is made for drinking cocktails late into the night.
