- No.31 MENA's 50 Best Restaurants 2022
Open since 2002, Mirai’s tenure on Manama’s dining scene has led local restaurant cognoscenti to label it ‘must-visit’. It’s a Japanese spectacular here: dive into the tempura, bao buns and gyoza before sinking your teeth into the succulent cuts straight from the grill. Charcoaled salmon teriyaki with shiitake mushrooms and nasu, braised beef short ribs and hot pot rice and the Chef Special maki rolls – a combination of tuna, shredded spicy crab in chilli sauce and a splash of unagi sauce – are all firm favourites. Guests taking a seat at the counter are likely to spot the affable Junior Gomez plating platters of sashimi. Head upstairs to the bar and order a cocktail made by some of Bahrain’s best mixologists. The culinary experience continues across the city at Mirai’s smaller sister restaurant, M by Mirai in the vibrant Seef District, which offers robata-grilled fare.
