This Calgary cocktail bar has a post-apocalyptic feel, with the menu describing the space as “a balance between artful decay and relaxed elegance”. Gas masks decorate the backbar, while the rest of the space is illuminated by a fixture made up of more than 5,000 bulbs, though the vibe is still soft and sultry. Drinks here are inspired by the pre-prohibition era, brought into the modern era with cutting edge techniques and eccentric pairings like beetroot and bourbon and clove or tomato and vanilla. As for the food, there's plenty: a range of bao, from jerk chicken to braised pork; a "girl dinner" sharing plate of charcuterie and soft cheeses; yellowfin crudo; and a moreish focaccia cheese toast.
