Chances are you might come up with something close to Casavant, which opened in 2023 and proved an immediate hit. Set on a light-filled corner site, it exudes an easy charm, with long, burnt-orange banquettes set below the windows, and a handsome bar where the wine’s displayed in custom-built wooden cabinets. The menu’s brasserie classics are cooked with considerable panache, whether it’s a herby sausage with velvety, mustard-spiked mash or sea bass with buttery grenobloise sauce, liberally studded with capers. Even better, it keeps the plates coming until late, with a kitchen that closes at midnight. The wines in those cabinets, meanwhile, deserve a closer look; ask, and staff will talk you through the line-up of mainly natural wines.
