Hidden behind the faux façade of a printing shop, Slice of Life is the kind of place you only find if you know exactly what you're looking for. A psychedelic mirrored hallway leads to a darkened room lined with plush red velvet banquettes and warm rod lighting, evoking a retro-styled bar from the future. That sensibility carries through to the drinks, created in a basement lab outfitted with centrifuges, rotary evaporators, ultrasonic infusers, and dehydrators.The payoff is clear with the punchy cocktail menu. Inspired by his time as head bartender at London's Kol Mezcaleria, co-founder Eric Pan's approach is to pair two seasonal ingredients and transform them into a pair of entirely distinct drinks, thus proving the power of technique. Try the signature White Negroni with tequila and black walnut, or a strawberry and shiso combo as an electric sour or a dry martini with a hint of cacao.
